Dear Prospective Pilot Candidate:
Our unique computer-based training and cockpit procedures computer system immerses you in a myriad of sound, graphics, video and animation during the fifteen-day ground school course.
Qualified instructors will also tutor you 8 hours a day to assist you in all aspects of systems and procedures training.
Upon successful completion of your ground school course, you will prove out the most difficult procedures in a stationary simulator. After successful completion, your instructor will certify you for full-flight simulator training.
AAT Through self-paced computer-based training, we integrate the course material and the free play trainer teaching, followed by the validating systems and procedures. This unique method reduces traditional classroom ground school. If additional free play trainer is needed, there is no extra charge.
Computer-Generated Course Structure
Our integration of systems and procedures into a fifteen day course, will introduce you to pilot tips, zoom feature, voice questions, homework, video sequencing animation of systems, procedures training, testing of memory items, testing of all systems.
Instructor Training
Your fully qualified and current airline instructors will review each day's lesson, homework, all flows, scans, and work with you on any problem areas you might have.
Procedures Verification
Time is spent in a stationary simulator so that the instructor may validate all the normal and non-normal procedures that must be preformed in the full motion simulator.
FPT Training
Your glass and FMC training will be done in a fixed base trainer in Calgary, Canada. This includes 8 hours and may be portioned in two hour segments.
Full-Flight Simulator
16 hours of full flight simulator sessions are offered in Calgary, Alberta covering all aspects of the government-approved course.
Evaluation
In the last session, an evaluation ride is required. If the instructor judges that your performance is satisfactory, he will recommend you for the check ride.
Check Ride A designated flight examiner from Transport Canada will monitor your ride Upon successful completion, you will receive a class one instrument rating on the B737-600,700,800 & NG. For the Canadian type endorsement, All of your training is completed in a Level D simulator.
Upon successful completion, you will receive a type endorsement on the Boeing the B737-600,700, 800 & NG
Minimum Requirements
You must have total time of 250 hours and a valid pilot's
license and a multi-instrument rating.
Be expected to purchase additional training if your flying experience and skills are not up to the standard required. If you are a low-time pilot, but have good academic and cognitive skills, you may not require additional training.
Unlike American licenses, Canadian licenses may be accepted in ICAO countries. This means that you may be able to fly in other ICAO member countries with your Canadian License for a limited period of time. For the U.S. ATPL or Canadian ATPL course, you must have a minimum of 750 hours in order to write the exam.
If you do not have the minimum required flight time to qualify to write the ATPLs', you may write the Canadian Instrument rating exam and the Commercial pilot's license exam.
For students that hold French licenses or British licenses (CAA with British ATPL) and acquire 500 hours on type- you will be granted a JAA/JAR license with your type rating transferred on to it. With this license, you may work anywhere in Europe.
AAT is making arrangements with certain airlines to purchase line training time on type for you, so that you may complete your line training and build valuable flying time. An alternative for foreign pilots is to gain a limited term pilot license
(LTPL) from Transport Canada. You may receive a temporary license for training only and obtain your type rating and instrument rating on this license. Depending on your own domestic regulations, you may transfer the endorsement and rating to your domestic license. If you cannot transfer your rating to your domestic license, you may wish to take the course and not write the commercial and instrument rating exams and flight test before doing the type rating. You may complete the B737 course, have your type rating and instrument rating on your temporary LTPL then take 90 days or longer to write the commercial, instrument and flight test exams. Upon completion you can have your B737 type rating transferred to a Canadian Commercial license. Some authorities only require a letter from Transport Canada. Check with your local civil aviation office.
Security Check
Unlike the United States, Canada does not require a national security check, a visa or a waiting period.
A in-house security check is only required for use of the simulator facilities. This check is done when your application is processed.
