AIRBUS A340 Type Rating CourseDear Prospective Pilot Candidate:
Fully approved by the federal government regulatory agency of
Canada, Active Aerospace Training offers effective and cost
efficient training. Our Type Rating program is specifically designed
for experienced pilots who want to further their success in the
Aviation Industry. We know your time is valuable and that is why we
designed a self-paced, online program to prepare you before you
start this ground school and full flight simulator course. Your
course will consist of 6 segments.
Internet Training
Our internet training will give you a "heads up" in preparing you
for the ground school course. You will be able to prepare for the
endorsement course at home, at your own speed. Each module is
imbedded with questions that must be answered in order to proceed to
the next module. A pass mark of 80% is required in order to qualify
for acceptance into the Ground school in Vancouver. Instructors will
be available for you via email or Skype.
Ground School
Through self-paced computer-based training, we integrate the course
material and the free play trainer teaching, followed by the
validating systems and procedures. This unique method reduces
traditional classroom ground school.
Your initial systems course will be delivered by computer based
systems trainer. This state of the art program will immerse you into
a myriad of multimedia. An instructor will be available through out
the course to assist you with any questions you might have.

Your fully qualified Airline instructor will review each day's
lesson, homework, all flows, scans, and work with you on any problem
areas you might have.
You will accomplish 8 hours as pilot flying and 8 hours as pilot not
flying, making up a total of 16 hours.(the PF time is paid by you
and you receive PNF time because your partner is paying for his PF
time). You will have an evaluation in the fourth session, confirming
your readiness for the check ride. If the instructor judges that
your performance is satisfactory, he will recommend you for the
ride.
The Check Ride
A designated flight examiner from Transport Canada will monitor this
final ride. Upon successful completion, you will receive a type
endorsement on an Airbus A340.
Minimum Requirements for a A340 rating on a Transport Canada
license.
The only written exam that is required before you take the flight test
is the INRAT written. If you have a current instrument rating from
another country, this will be acceptable. After you successfully
complete the check ride the following requirements must be met in
order to have the type rating on a Canadian license.
Transport Canada has a minimum requirement of 250 hours total time. You also must
have a valid pilot's license, either an Airline Transport Rating or have completed
the Transport Canada multi crew exam. For those who only require a letter from
Transport Canada acknowledging successful completion of your check ride, there
are no minimum requirements or medical required. Pilots converting their FAA
license to a Canadian license will require successful completion of a Transport
Canada Air Law test and have passed a group one medical. For those students who
wish the endorsement on their Indian license, please add $5000.00 dollars to the
course cost. This extra charge is to pay for extra specific training that the
Indian DGCA requires. All other ratings on foreign licenses do not require a
minimum flight time requirement.
World wide acceptance of Your Rating
Unlike American licenses, Canadian licenses may be accepted in other
ICAO countries. For students that hold French or British licenses
and acquire 500 hours on type, and undertake a successful JAA
simulator check ride with an approved TRTO. You will be granted a
JAA/JAR type rating on your Euro license. There are an increasing
number of countries (Belgium, Denmark, Australia, Luxembourg,
Serbia, Jordan and others) that only require a letter from Transport
Canada acknowledging that you have met all the requirements in
successfully attaining a type rating. With this letter, you do not
have to write off ANY Canadian exams, nor attend a medical exam and
will have the rating endorsed on your license in your domicile
country.
Accommodation while on course
Active Aerospace has liaison with facilitators to provide accommodation
for the students. There is a choice of a private room or shared room.
The private room is with toilet facilities and is $550.00 per week in
Canadian dollars, including taxes. The shared room is $350 in Canadian
dollars. Transportation to and from the facility is by rapid rail transit
which will drop you directly in front of the training center We highly
recommend all students stay at this facility because the owner has made
special arrangements to have cockpit mockups and study rooms for your convenience.
Employment with your Endorsement
Active has established an agency in Thailand and other Asian
countries for the purpose of finding employment for you. After you
have completed the rating, our relationship will continue (without
charge) until we find you job. We will obtain a recommendation from
your instructor, package your training files, and send out your
resume to our agents so that they can actively work to find you a
first officers or Captains job on the aircraft you trained for. We
also have working relationships with various Airlines. Your resume
package will also be sent to them for review. We know that if we
find you a job, you will recommend us to others. And it is our
policy to financially reward you for any referral.
Time Building
From time to time we come across Airlines that will allow you to buy
line time. When this accommodation arises, we will promptly forward
this information on to you.
Security Check
Unlike the United States, Canada does not require a national
security check, or a waiting period. An in-house security check is
only required for use of the simulator facilities. This check is
done when your application is processed.
